History

Express Tax Lane Powered by Lopez Tax Service®
 began as a natural expansion of Lopez Tax Service and their six tax preparation and accounting offices located in Monterey and Santa Clara counties in the central coast of California. Carlos C. Lopez, who is the president and founder, is an enrolled agent, earned a business degree from the University of San Francisco and started his practice in 1983. During the immigration amnesty of the mid 1980’s, Carlos recognized a need for a professional tax practitioner focused on the needs of the working poor and undocumented worker, the beginning of Lopez Tax Service.

Operating as a sole practitioner until 1999, Mr. Lopez incorporated his practice and then completed the requirements to obtained education vendor status with the California Tax Education Council (CTEC) and began offering the 60 hour qualifying course and 20 hour continuing education courses to the public. This provided a pool of qualified tax preparers in the community as well as prospective employees for Lopez Tax Service, Inc. This was the beginning of an aggressive growth plan.

This plan included offering a full range of tax preparation, accounting and notary public services to help his growing client base to begin their own businesses, incorporate, form partnerships, purchase residential and commercial property, planning for retirement, helping clients save for their children’s education as well as offering an opportunity for his clients and the public to learn tax preparation and work for one of the fastest growing firms in the state of California. The concept of “Your Financial Marketplace®” was trademarked with the United States Patent and Trademark Office and became reality.

In August 2006, Lopez Tax Service, Inc., purchased a large office complex and built a state of the art training center and corporate headquarters. Up to 42 students at a time can earn a variety of certificates, CTEC qualifying and continuing education, Notary Public ethics courses authorized by the Secretary of State of California, and IRS-approved CPE courses. Classes are taught with an emphasis on various marketing, management, bookkeeping and personal growth techniques from qualified instructors using state of the art multi-media techniques. Courses are taught in English and Spanish. Our students consist of working adults who are looking for a change in careers, extra income, part time jobs or just learning more about taxation. The training center is also provided to, and used by, the IRS, EDD and other non-profit organizations as a public service.

In 2007, Lopez Financial Group, LLC was formed as a Texas LLC to host the tax processing and call center, Express Tax Lane Powered by Lopez Tax Service®. This processing center and headquarters for this new company are located in McKinney, Texas, about 35 miles north of Dallas, Texas. Our goal is to provide the same high quality tax preparation support for traditional and non-traditional tax preparation sites. We have partnered with CCH and TaxWise® to offer InterviewPlus Online, an internet-based, easy to use software solution for entrepreneurs, insurance agencies, multi-servicios, HR Departments and other non-traditional tax preparation sites.
