We believe we have found the best way to combine profitable tax preparation with your existing business. Start up costs are minimal. Do you have a computer, laser/office jet printer, internet connection? If so, with a small licensing fee you are ready to start!.
I'm not computer savvy. Will someone assist me with installing the software?
No software installation is required. Because Express Tax Lane is a web-based product, all you need is broadband access to the internet.
I don't know a lot about preparing taxes, where do I start?
Express Tax Lane Powered by Lopez Tax Service® (ETL) is easy enough for anyone in your customer service center to use. They don't need to be a tax expert, that's our job. Your staff will be trained to use a simple internet program that walks them through the interview, we prepare the tax return. This allows them to be confident right from the beginning with the interview process. We take out the fear and get it right the first time. What if questions come up? What type of training does Express Tax Lane Powered by Lopez Tax
Service® offer?
We offer comprehensive, hands-on software training both in-house and remotely. The training covers tax preparation training as well as software training for the interviewers. We have both live instructor training and CBT (computer based training). Training can be customized for an individual organization. Bilingual training is also available. We also have a new one-day course on Marketing Your Business.
How do I become a Registered IRS E-Filer?
You must attain an IRS EFIN (Electronic Filer Identification Number) to be able to electronically submit (e-file) returns to the IRS. We can help you with that process.
Do I need to sign a multi-year contract with Express Tax Lane Powered by
Lopez Tax Service®?
No, you simply sign a license agreement with us prior to the start of each tax season. If you are just getting started with us, you need to make sure you comply with our system requirements and are committed to be trained properly at one of our training programs.
What are the requirements to get an EFIN?
The IRS requires you to be up to date with your own corporate/business taxes owed and have no criminal record. If you match this criteria you must then be fingerprinted and fill out a Form 8633. Go here www.irs.gov to start the process or ask and we'll help you get this part done right.
Does Express Tax Lane Powered by Lopez Tax Service® include any marketing materials to help me get started?
Yes, we provide a wide variety of marketing materials in both English and Spanish. These materials include: templates for email and postcard/mailer production, store banner, posters, window stickers, radio and television commercials (in English and Spanish).

What type of support do you offer?
We offer full customer and technical support. However, it's important to remember that since this is a web-based program, if you have a broadband internet connection, the rest is easy!
Can I use my EFIN at multiple locations or have multiple EFINs at my location?
No, the IRS requires one EFIN per location.
What if my client has a problem with their tax returns or get a letter from the IRS?
We will provide you a guide book on how to deal with IRS and state taxing agencies.
What kind of customers would use this service?
Any taxpayer who files a current year 1040EZ, 1040A, and 1040 with Schedule A, itemized deductions.
How do I market my business to make sure I get enough customers?
We will give you basic marketing tips and we have a complete marketing class available. We also provide you with basic sales tools and templates to help you market effectively to your client base.
